The Mayor of St Huberts and a proud Woy Woy Wombat, Mitchell Baird, picked up a Bronze medal for Australia A over Canada at the recent SOPAC International tournament held between Australia, Australia A, Canada & Vasas (Hungarian Club team boasting numerous olympians).
Mitchell managed an extra man goal against Australia during the round games and is now on a well deserved rest after a hectic 6 weeks which included the Institute Challenge, Brazilian National League and finally the SOPAC tournament.

Latest news on the ever increasing water polo career for Mitchell Baird (Woy Woy Wombats).
After a strong performance at the recent NTC challenge, Mitchell has just been selected in the Australia A team to take part in the SOPAC International Tournament on Jan 2 & 3. Hopefully if selected he will then participate in a national training camp with Canada, a great result and puts him in the top five Centre Forwards in the country, so don’t feel to upset when he takes you into centre forward on the coast
Further great news is that his three week stint in the Brazilian National League has come to an end but he will also be bringing back rewards for his efforts. His team, Pinheiros, managed to come from Third place and beat the two teams above them to take out the national league championships. Their finals are played over two games with the combined goal differences used to determine the results. They won the first final 12-5, meaning the team they were playing needed to beat them by 7 goals in the second game, that wasn’t to be and Mitchell’s team also got the win in the second game, taking the title and game two 12-7.
Mitchell is currently celebrating and about to hit the town with fellow Australian team mate, Rhys Howden, who travelled to Brazil with him.
Congratulations from all of the CCWP community.
