Wombats to strong again.

The Woy Woy Wombats won their second NSW Country Clubs title yesterday, upsetting the fancied ACT Nordic team who were undefeated coming into the Final. The Wombats won the final 8-6 doing extremely well to hang on for the win with International Star Mitch Baird out mid way through the 3rd quarter with 3 majors. Congratulations Wombats.

North V South Charity Shield

Well it’s been a long time in the waiting but finally we are almost here… A game day where the northern teams take on the southern teams all in the name of fun and charity.

There will be a BBQ on the day and a donation bucket for direct donations to Cystic Fibrosis. It should be a great day to watch or play some quality water polo.

Where: Woy Woy Pool (PLC – Peninsula Leisure Centre)
Date: Sunday (14th November) at PLC
Start: 12:30pm (setup and M3 warm up).
Finish: 5:00pm
Charity: Cystic Fibrosis (CF)
Entry cost is normal pool entry fees.

Grade Start Times:

M3: 1:00pm
L2: 1:40pm
M2: 2:20pm
L1: 3:10pm
M1: 4:00pm

Come along, bring your friends and family. This is a great chance to see why so many new people are coming to the sport, young and old.

Referee’s clinic

CCJWP are running the Referee’s clinic again this season. It’s being run on Saturday 23rd October from 10am till noon at Energy Australia House, Tuggerah.

Cost will be $10.00 with a whistle, rule book and lunch supplied.

Justin Donohue named in the Australian Schools Boys team

Wyong’s Justin Donohue was named in the Australian School Boys team to tour Europe and New Zealand in December.

Justin was one of the kids in the Central Coast Junior Program from day one back in 2003 and I’m sure his selection is only the beginning of many more to come as our young players continue to develop through our ever expanding program on the Coast - Central Coast Junior Water Polo Director and proud dad Peter Donohue

Congratulations Justin, a great reward for all your hard work.

Bairdy and Eames named in Aussie Sharks team

Local stars Mitchell Baird and Wade Eames have been named in the Aussie Sharks team to contest the Asia-Oceania rounds of this year’s FINA World League starting next week.

Congratulations Bairdy and Wade, will be great to see some local young guns playing for Australia… Well done.

The time has come to find the remaining grand finalist from the elimination finals.

Tonight’s match ups at PLC:

M3 – Wyong v The Entrance 6:00pm

Expressions of Interest – Sydney Winter Comp

Hey All,

I’m currently finding out which players are interested in playing the M3 winter competition. We have quite a few players keen and could possibly also field an M1/2 side as well if the Hurricanes don’t put a team in. This means there could possibly be a couple of Novacastrians in both M3 or M1/2 side. This will all depend on the number of players who put their name down.

M3 will be played on Tuesday nights times vary from around 7:00pm start to 8:30pm start.
M1/2 is played on Wednesday nights. I should have an update on the M1/2 competition on Wednesday night.

The current plan is to have training at Gosford pool over winter for those who want to train.

I’ll be putting in for getting Gosford pool for water polo training on Sunday afternoons. What we do at these training sessions will come down to who turns up really. They will be open to all people of the Central Coast who want to keep fit over the winter.

I’ll also (and this is more for me than anyone) be doing squad training on Thursday nights 6:45 – 8:00pm with Gosford Pool. If any of you are interested in coming along or want to watch me swim for the humurous satisfaction of it let me know.

Ryde pool will be our home pool as they only have an M4 and M5 team and said we could enter in on their block for home games. They also only have an M4 – M6 for summer so we could potentially become a sister club for them over winter and summer for those who want more water polo or Sydney experience.
